Technical Assistant I - Jain Lab#00285

Classification:                        Exempt: Research Staff

REPORTS TO:                     Principal Investigator or other supervisory lab personnel

The Jain lab studies the role of RNA aggregation in human health and disease. We are investigating how defective RNA processing may contribute to certain genetic neurological diseases such as Huntington disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We use a variety of biophysical and biochemical approaches to examine aberrations in RNA processing at a molecular and cellular level.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our growing team in Technical Assistant I position. The technical assistant will conduct experiments to characterize the effects of RNA aggregation in cell culture models.

Designs and performs bench level experiments and independent research projects to support scientific research objectives of a lab or group. Analyzes experimental data, addresses methodological problems in experimental protocols and results, and reports data to supervisor. Conducts laboratory tasks and organization to ensure the smooth operation of the group. Uses discretion in prioritizing and organizing workflow and in optimizing methodologies and results.
